Dear Livingston Rotarians,

A New Rotary year started July 1st, so I'm starting the monthly newsletters again! Thought it'd be useful for communication, especially in these times when we will not be meeting regularly.

Last Tuesday we had a small, outdoor gathering at the picnic pavilion at G Street Park, organized by Andy. We enjoyed ice cream sandwiches and the sounds of kids playing at the splash park. If you haven't visited G St Park recently, please swing by and take a look.  Our club really put a lot of effort into developing the park, and it has turned into a great gathering place for our community.

Moving forward, Andy and I decided that we will not hold formal meetings at the Food Resource Center until the fall, pending the pandemic situation.  In lieu of those meetings, we are going to propose some simple service projects where our membership can easily participate. One idea is to have a birthday card/pen pal campaign for residents in our assisted living and senior housing facilities. Outdoor cleanup of public parks is another option, as well as helping the FRC hand out food bags to families in need, or help FRC staff assemble children's lunches.  We welcome your ideas to keep our club active, please email Andy or me and share your thoughts!

Upcoming calendar items:  RLYA CAMP has been cancelled and the district is instead organizing a virtual conference on Wednesday, August 5th at 6pm. Our club will be hosting a viewing party for the conference, with a BBQ beforehand for guests.  Location TBD. This would be a great opportunity to invite future RYLA participants (these would be kids entering their JUNIOR YEAR of high school in fall 2021-this is a change from prior years) and their families to see how RYLA has influenced attendees and made differences in their lives.  We will provide more details in another communication, but now would be a great time to think of families who you could invite :)

Thank you for all you do!

Sarah
